The Crucible by Arthur Miller Essay -- Essay on The Crucible
The crucible was based in 1692 in and around the town of Salem,Massachusetts, USA. The Salem witch-hunt was draw as one of thestrangest and most horrendous chapters in the human history. tidy sumthat were prosecuted were all innocent and their deaths were all dueto false accusation of pecks ridiculous belief in superstition andtheir paranoia. The Puritans in those clock were very strict inpersonal habits and morality swearing, drunkenness and gaming wouldbe punished. The people of Salem believed in the devil and thoughtthat witchcraft should be hunted give away. The play crapper be underwriten as ageneral statement on the effects that fear and fanaticism can have onhuman universes and how one person can pull in such catastrophe. It is a purely a controversial play, so why write a play knowing the danger you were putting yourself in? Arthur Miller wrote theplay because he was accused of being a commie Miller attendedmeetings between communist writers. He was fined and given a suspendedprison sentence. When he wrote the play, he focused on a series oftrue events, which took place in and around the town of Salem. AsMiller saw what was happening around him at the time, he gain thathe himself could not take any direct action, or treat out against theact of McCarthyism because he could put himself in danger. He did, however, earn that he could make early(a) Americans see how they wereacting towards each other and how paranoia were the main cause to thiswidespread rage. Realising that he has to prevent this hysteriafrom growing further was to write a play, in hope that the audiencewould see what the hidden meaning and message he was trying toportray, instead of being just a play. Many thi... ...s and McCarthyism have similar beginnings andsimilar results. Such hysteria came about because of the excessivesuspicion that was planted in the peoples minds, by Parris andMcCarthy. in spite of this, it was Parris and McCarthy who primarily risethe hysteria t hat lapsered. Such hysteria may occur today, dealingwith the issue on terrorism. Racial profiling and accusations may beprominent in our country once again If the decently events and the rightpeople trigger such a scare, our country could be in a state of masshysteria as it was two clock already. Despite the age of The Cruciblethere are many issues include in it that are still very relevant inthe innovative world to day. Due to Millers clever plot and distinctivetechniques, he was able to bring the history to life. This play turnedout to be one of the most relevant plays of the past and of today.
